Overview of Nigeria

Nigeria is the most populous country in Africa and the 8th most populous country in the world. The economy is dominated by the oil and gas sector (accounts for approximately 85% of government revenue); however the non-oil economy has exhibited high growth (10% in 2007) . Since the election in 1999 of its third democratically elected civilian leader, following a long interregnum of military rule, Nigeria has seen a number of significant political and economic reforms. The IMF forecasts 8.1% real GDP growth in 2009; and GDP growth above 7% from 2009 to 2013. It is expected that the primary focus of Government over the next 10-15 years will be in physical and non-physical infrastructure, agriculture and power developments.

The Founder

Chief Sunny Odogwu The Odogwu Group of Companies was founded by Chief (Dr) Sunny Iwedike Odogwu, CFR. He is a Fellow of the Chartered Insurance Institute of Brokers (F.C.I.B) and also a Fellow of the Corporate Insurance Practitioners (F.C.I.P) both based in London.
Awarded the Best African Businessman by the World Bank in 1999 and the IMF staff club, Chief Odogwu is also an indusrialist and as well a Philantropist. In 2004, the Federal Government of Nigeria gave him the highest business awards. He is a Commander of the Federal Republic (CFR) amongst several other distinguished awards for excellence. In 1961 he married Theresa Adaobi (nee Ibik) and together they have 8 children and over 15 grand-children.
